Parent and Baby Yoga

ree

Dear Reader,

I’m Emma, Adoptive mother of two little girls. When a four day old baby arrived in my home I found myself a bit lost, maternity leave and a lack of groups, specifically ones that I would actually enjoy and involved my newest addition seemed to be non-existent and I became isolated.  This made a stressful situation worse, I lacked community and support from other mothers who were coming to terms with the massive change that a new child brings. I adore yoga but I missed my own practice for a long time. Had something like this been available in my area I would have been so grateful.

My vision is to create a safe space for all parents and caregivers, where there is only love, support and understanding. A community where judgement does not exist, where lifelong friends are created and as an added bonus your back doesn’t hurt when you are picking baby up and your neck feels better from looking down at your squishy baby while they are feeding, sleeping or doing any manner of other cute things!

After I completed my 200 hours of yoga teacher training the next step was my parent and baby training. I will incorporate play into your practice so that you can bond with baby through the poses. I will provide an opportunity for movement and song so that baby is fully engaged... unless they decide to sleep all the way through the class.  This is different from a post-natal class in that you do not have to have given birth to your baby to enjoy all the benefits that this class provides.

Parent and baby yoga offers so many benefits for both parents and their babies, including physical and emotional well-being, enhanced bonding, and a sense of community. For babies, it can promote relaxation, improve sleep (absolutely not guaranteed), and support their development. Most importantly at least once a week you can get out, speak to understanding people, move your body and take some time for you.

It is my hope that this offering provides all new parents with the community that I wish I had had when my babies were small.

With love to all new parents

Emma
